Tender, Love, and Care

Recently my cellphone didn’t work properly. All my contacts, videos and pictures got lost. Luckily some of it could be restored but not everything.

To avoid future problems I decided to give my phone a good portion of TLC. So I made my phone a jacket.

A cover made from recycled paper!

The outside is made from solid brown paper, the inside is covered with felt.

To avoid my phone to lose its jacket I added a piece of webbing with a magnet in the end. The opposite site of the magnet is hidden between the felt and the paper.

The cover is already in use for a little while now and is still in a very good condition. And … my phone works without flows, so he clearly loves its new cover as much as I do!

Thanks to the blog and our facebook pictures family and friends are aware of our adventures in the Middle-East. One couple in our circle of friends is not aware at all of the life we lead. After months of futile attempts to use a computer and surf online, they renounced the use of a computer for good.

Neither of them needs a computer/the internet for work and on top of that ‘he’ is a great fan of ‘regular post’

They beg me every year to get some updates of our life through regular airmail. Honestly the ease of current e-communication made me lazy, but when I found this delightful ‘Pigeon Voyageur’, I knew who would finally receive something in his mailbox from us!

The kids cut, folded, glued, and wrote a message on a tiny note; the envelop slit in the pigeons beak and it all fits in a cute little box.

I hope our ‘letter’ arrives safe and sound, we miss you dear friends without internet!

Happily EVER AFTER

A couple we are friends with, are soon to be married. I wisely refused to make the wedding dress and left that to an expert, but there are plenty of other things to be sewn for the big day.

As a keepsake for their marriage, they will give a CD to their guests. Inspired by her work with paper from a world atlas, we made the CD covers.

She is Australian, he is Romanian and they got to know each other in the United Arab Emirates. Thus the corresponding pages were ripped out the world atlas and sewn together with some brown recycled paper.

The paper was plasticized on the inside to prolong the lifespan of the covers.

The ‘newlyweds to be’ are in charge of making the CD, I am curious to hear their choice of music.
