Mittens

Our globetrotter got mittens to take with her on her trip to Belgium. Secretly she was hoping for snow, she didn’t get to see any snow, but she was impressed by the ‘clouds’ coming out of her mouth while breathing.

Granny also got a pair of mittens, inspired by this pin we made ‘mommy mittens’, for the occasion called ‘granny mittens’.

Note to self: Do not postpone making cute things until the kids have outgrown them. These mittens look way more cute when you make them for toddler hands and not a teenager whose hands are almost the same size as those of her grandmother!

Pattern: I took the outline of her hand for her mittens and the outline of my own hands for granny her mittens.
Fabric: The teddy fleece was bought @ Sammtex in Ronse.

Spring fever

We cleared out the whole house. Once per year we check all the cabinets, drawers, every box and shelf. This ‘spring fever clean’ session resulted in some colorful storage improvements.
I finally found a way to properly store our collection of washi tape; by using an old branch of the garden.

Conclusion I do not need to buy any more washi tape as I currently have enough tape.

The cones of embroidery thread finally got neatly arranged. We attached a wooden board on the wall the cones can be slide over long nails.

This is not an idea from pinterest, I saw it in the workroom of a local tailor in Sharjah.

We arranged our cones by color.

Five sets of milk teeth

Our eldest already has a couple of ‘big people teeth’, recently also Omar started to get his big teeth. Twin brother Elias got a little jealous of his brother; but yesterday his patience got rewarded. He could also finally put his first milk tooth in a jar we made earlier this year. How such a small thing as a milk tooth can make a boy proud!

We got inspired by pinterest to make our kids teeth jars. This summer our collection of empty glass jars was set out on the table and small plastic animals were glued on the lid.

Consequently we spray painted the lids.

We made one jar for every Curl Up kid, decorated with their preferred animal.

Meanwhile we also made some jars for mummy her collection of buttons.

We even made one with glow-in-the-dark paint. A scary jar!
